A taxi driver is so badly injured in the Grunewald residential area in Berlin that he later dies in hospital. Two days later there is an investigation success.

In the case of the fatally injured taxi driver in Berlin-Grunewald, a suspect is in custody. He was arrested, said a spokeswoman for the Berlin Attorney General in the evening. She confirmed a report by “BZ”. The investigators have not yet released any further information – such as the identity of the man or the circumstances of the arrest.

A passer-by found the 49-year-old taxi driver on Thursday morning, a police spokeswoman said. Despite the first rescue attempts by witnesses on site, the man later died in a hospital. The perpetrator or perpetrators had fled, the police had announced. The background to the fact is unclear. A homicide commission took over the investigation.

Grunewald is a district in southwest Berlin and a forested area with lakes. The area is known for magnificent villas and some prominent residents.
