After some back and forth about the security concept, the Berlin techno parade “Rave the Planet” was able to start. Despite the great heat, the ravers came to the Straße des 17. Juni. The police had a bizarre request to the participants.

Large crowds at the “Rave the Planet” techno parade in Berlin-Tiergarten Bizarre request from the police to the ravers Event only approved hours before the start Balance sheet from the fire brigade and police: no incidents worth mentioning

Numerous ravers partied late into the evening at the techno parade “Rave The Planet” in Berlin-Tiergarten. The party with 25 music floats moved in the footsteps of the legendary Love Parade by Dr. Motte on the Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Großer Stern.

The fire brigade and police only gave the green light for the event on Saturday afternoon. That’s how long it took for the security concept of the Techno-Parade to be finally checked, a police spokesman said. The operations management of the fire brigade and police drew a positive balance on Sunday morning: no “notable incidents”, it said.

“Please do not undress”

Fire department spokesman Jens-Peter Wilke was satisfied with the course of the techno demo. The fire brigade and medical service were well positioned. The helpers had to take care of around 150 people in the medical tents, 51 of them were taken to hospitals, the fire brigade tweeted on Sunday morning.

Love Parade founder Dr. Motte greeted the dancing crowd shortly after 2 p.m.: “Our motto is ‘Music is the answer.’ Nice to see you,” he said. The police estimated the number of participants at 200,000, with 300,000 registered.

In bright sunshine and more than 30 degrees, many people showed bare skin on the Street of June 17th. That led to one unusual call to the policewhich caused amusement but also incomprehension on Twitter: “A request that we didn’t think we would have to cancel: Please don’t undress on #ravetheplanet. Participants have complained to us. #b0807”

Organizer calls for donations again

The event had been on the brink until the end because of the security concept. Long time there were no contracts with a medical service. Thanks to donations received, the problem has almost been solved, and a private provider has been hired. But “there’s still a loose 150,000 euros missing,” explained Dr. Moth. He therefore called for further donations.

The financing of the medical service is secured, but it has torn a gap in the budget, said co-managing director of “Rave the Planet” gGmbH, Timm Zeiss, on Saturday at the request of rbb | 24. Now “one or the other shareholder has to put something in again”.

Fire brigade satisfied with security concept – around 1,000 police officers on duty

“That made a reasonable impression on us,” said a fire brigade spokesman with regard to the safety concept. Around 270 people were on site as medical staff, the organizers spoke of 240 helpers. The fire brigade also accompanied the parade with its own forces and coordinated emergency calls, the spokesman said.

According to the police, around 1,000 officers accompanied the event in the Tiergarten. There were no significant incidents. There were almost 60 criminal charges of “all colors”. The main focus was on bodily harm and violations of the Narcotics Act.

Chialo: Techno Parade “Urberliner event”

The Berlin Senator for Culture, Joe Chialo, was among the participants in the Techno Parade. “I celebrate the music,” said the CDU politician on Saturday at the start of the event. “Rave The Planet” continues a tradition that has shaped the capital. In his speech, the CDU politician emphasized that the Love Parade was a “Urban event”.

At the same time he said: “Berlin is a city of diversity, not of simplicity. We have no place here for anti-Semitism, racism and homophobia.”
