Money Heist: Berlin (from Friday 29 December on Netflix)

Registered name: Andres de Fonellosa. Stage (and battle) name: Berlin. One of the most beloved characters of the La Casa de Papel saga returns, the leader of the gang of thieves who burgle the now famous Fabrica de Moneta y Timbre, the worst or the best of them depending on your point of view. The long-awaited prequel La Casa de Papel: Berlin brings back to life the fascinating Andres, brother of the Professor and armed wing of the gang. The series, created by Alex Pina, set between Spain and Paris in an undefined past. His spirit can be summed up in this Berlin maxim: “Only two things can brighten up a gloomy day: the first is love. The second is to steal a lot of money.” To earn this money, Berlin will try to make 44 million dollars in jewels disappear, but in the spin-off there will be space for other robberies orchestrated by Andres. The series stars Begoa Vargas, Tristn Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, Julio Pea and Joel Snchez.

Around the world in 80 days (from Wednesday 27 December on Rai 2)

After the 1989 series, with Pierce Brosnan in the title role, Around the World in 80 Days returns to TV. The story is the one told in Jules Verne’s masterpiece, with some variations. In London, in 1872, the wealthy gentleman Phileas Fogg decides to accept the challenge of his whist companions at the Reform Club: he will complete the trip around the world in 80 days, a feat which according to the Daily Telegraph was made possible by great advances in technology . Accompanying him on this adventure, for which he has bet a considerable sum of money, is the butler Passepartout and – this is a novelty introduced by the series – the journalist Abigail Fix. Fogg played by David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Harry Potter); also starring Ibrahim Koma, Leonie Benesch, Jason Watkins. The series is a co-production between France, Germany and Italy, but arrives on our screens two years late.

Raffa (from Wednesday 27 December on Disney+)

It is directed by Daniele Luchetti (My Brilliant Friend, in addition to many successful films) and among the screenwriters there is also his friend Gianni Boncompagni. This would be enough to justify watching Raffa, the three-episode docuseries which, after its premiere at the cinema in June, will also land on Disney+ from 27 December. But then there is her, Raffaella Carr, the absolute protagonist of the documentary which in 180 minutes reconstructs her incredible career between music and dance, cinema and television. From Italy to Spain, to Latin America. Raffa’s epic told through 15,000 archive films, especially from Rai, and with the voices of the people who shared a piece of the journey with her: from Marco Bellocchio to Renzo Arbore, from Loretta Goggi to Boncompagni himself, from Tiziano Ferro in Fiorello.

War: Wrath and Vengeance (from Thursday 28 December on Netflix)

Sons of Caliphate a 2016 Nigerian political thriller available on Netflix (two seasons). Now, seven years after its debut, the spin-off War: Wrath and Vengeance arrives on the same platform. The series follows Nuhu Bula’s moves to become governor, with the support of his cunning wife Binta. When Binta discovers that her husband wants to marry a second wife, her machinations focus on what she holds most dear: marriage. The cast of the series includes Nigerian stars Mofe Duncan, Rahama Sadau and Yakubu Mohammed.

The Pokmon Concierge (from Thursday 28 December on Netflix)

Imagine a group of Pokemon vacationing at a resort located on a southern island. This is the context in which The Pokmon Concierge takes place, a stop motion series available from Thursday 28 December on Netflix which adds a new chapter to one of the most famous franchises in the world. The protagonist is the young Haru, who works as a concierge at the resort and does her utmost to give a few moments of well-being to the Pokémon guests. Helping her is a Psyduck, a first generation Pokémon. The series was written by Harumi Doki, directed by Iku Ogawa, the soundtrack by Japanese singer Mariya Takeuchi.
