Run a marathon and donate sportswear
Runners of the Berlin Marathon can donate their old sportswear before the race. The Berlin City Mission is calling for people to donate warm sweatpants, old sneakers, thick long-sleeved shirts, jackets and other used clothing. “We hope that the athletes have a big heart for those in need in the city,” said spokeswoman Barbara Breuer on Friday. Before starting the run, participants can simply drop their donations at the start and leave them where they are collected by City Mission employees. The idea therefore comes from the USA, where such donations of clothing before marathons are common. The used clothing can also be handed in at the registration desk at Tempelhofer Feld until Saturday.

According to the Berlin City Mission, the shelves of the clothing store are currently emptied. Sleeping bags, socks and shoes are particularly urgently needed because of the falling temperatures. Donations can be brought to Lehrter Strasse from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or to the Textilhafen on Storkower Strasse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
