Germany secretly sent a large batch of weapons to Ukraine. This was reported by the Merkur portal, citing a report by the German military department on defense spending, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
The article notes that Berlin has transferred ammunition for Leopard 1A5 and Marder tanks to Kyiv. Ukrainian troops have also received two Dachs engineering tanks, four Wisent 1 mine clearing tanks, two Biber bridgelayers and one Bergepanzer 2 evacuation tank from Germany.
“Ukraine hopes that this will help it create a strike group,” the publication says.
At the same time, observers paid special attention to the sending of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to the conflict zone. The authors of the article emphasized that the German Armed Forces do not use such machines. In order to help Kyiv, the German leadership had to specially purchase this equipment from Washington, the journalists specified.
