Berlusconi’s Sardinian mansion for sale – Yours for half a billion

by time news

The Sardinian estate used by Silvio Berlusconi to host the likes of Vladimir Putin and Tony Blair could soon be yours for just half a billion euros!

Italy’s former prime minister and media mogul died in June aged 86, leaving most of his titanic fortune to his five children – except for €100m earmarked for his 33-year-old mistress, MP Marta Fascina.

Now, his children have decided to sell his most prized possession, a sprawling estate called ‘Villa Certosa’ set within a 110-hectare estate on the Costa Smeralda on Sardinia’s north-east coast.

Villa Certosa boasts almost every amenity required to satisfy the most demanding superstar, the situation-conscious Russian billionaire or even the would-be James Bond villain in search of an unlikely hideout.

The stunning property overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is equipped with all sorts of luxurious facilities, including five swimming pools, a spa, tennis courts and even its own fake amphitheater.

As such, it became Berlusconi’s preferred location to host some of the world’s most powerful figures, including former US President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair – not forgetting his “dear friend”, Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Blair and his wife Cherie were welcomed to the Certosa villa with a specially designed £50,000 fireworks display that lit up the night sky with the words ‘Viva Tony’.

Putin meanwhile was a regular at Berlusconi’s Sardinian haunt, enjoying a series of holidays in the sunny coastal jewel from 2003 onwards.

Along with the five regular swimming pools, the Certosa also has a man-made lagoon, a full-sized football pitch, a golf course and a helipad.
