Bernard Tapie: his furniture and works of art auctioned in July

DPassed away from double cancer in October 2021, Bernard Tapie left behind a considerable art collection. According to the Sunday newspaper, the furniture from the Hôtel de Cavoye, the businessman’s last home, will be auctioned off at the Atelier Richelieu in Paris in July. Estimated value: between 4 and 5 million euros. The 180 lots notably include master paintings (The Triumph of Neptune by Paul de Vos), Louis XV carpets, a chandelier listed as a historical monument…

Certain pieces of the luxurious collection will be negotiated at gold prices. For exemple, Landscape, view of the waterfalls of Tivoli, by Hubert Robert (1733-1808), amounts to nearly 400,000 euros. As detailed in JDD, the private mansion of the Tapie couple is decorated with 13 paintings, 14 carpets, 25 lights and 128 pieces of furniture. The courts of Paris and Bobigny have mandated the house Artus Enchères to proceed with the sale, and thus pay off the debts of Bernard Tapie and his widow Dominique. The latter is liable for a debt of 600 million euros, mainly linked to the sprawling affair of Crédit Lyonnais.

A pension of 450 euros per month

Even by renouncing the succession of the ex-boss of Adidas, Dominique Tapie will still have to settle up to 300 million euros in debt. Before his death, Bernard Tapie had sold the Hôtel de Cavoye, his property on rue des Saint-Pères (Paris), where he lived with his wife, to François Pinault. According to Paris Match, their Mandala villa in Saint-Tropez and their second home in Combs-la-Ville were seized by the courts. Concerning her income, Dominique Tapie declares only 450 euros per month of retirement, that is to say half of the pension of ex-deputy of her husband.
