Berrettini: “Goal Top 30”
“At the beginning of the season, we decided that we wouldn’t think about my ranking because we had many doubts, especially about my body. The most important thing is that I feel good and I play well. If these two things happen, I can do well. I want to do it at the US Open and throughout the American summer. A good goal could be to reach the top 30 for the Australian Open.” Berrettini stated after the match.

Berrettini: “I found my tennis again”
“Incredible, it feels like yesterday when I won here in Gstaad, and instead, too much time has passed.” Berrettini said after the victory in Gstaad. “For me, it’s a special place, and I’m very happy. It was my opponent’s first final, and he played a nice first set. It’s never easy when you have to stop for rain and then restart, but compliments go to him. When I broke him in the first set, I understood what I needed to do to win, and I measured him well. For me, the season started late due to the physical problems I’ve had. Now I’m focused on the US Open and enjoying the upcoming tournaments while keeping this nice winning percentage I’m gathering. I’ve found my tennis again and I’m happy.“

Who is Quentin Halys: there is only one previous meeting with Berrettini
Berrettini will face qualifier Quentin Halys in the final. The twenty-seven-year-old Frenchman is ranked 192 in the world, but in January last year, he climbed as high as 61st in the ranking. Starting from the qualifiers, he has quickly found his footing in the tournament and yesterday won 6-3 7-6(2) in the semifinal against Jan-Lennard Struff. The only previous meeting between the two peers (both born in 1996) was won by the Frenchman, then a rising star of world tennis and the top seed, in the 2015 edition of the ITF in Piombino.

The serving factor back to make the difference
Berrettini’s serve certainly played a decisive role in the match against Tsitsipas. The success stats show 7 aces, 79% first serves, 92% points won on the first serve, and zero break points conceded. All while losing only 9 points on serve (winning 54 out of 63). Matteo, brilliant in return and during rallies, managed to put pressure on the Greek’s service games.
