Beta testing of Reliance Jio 5G service begins today in 4 cities with unlimited 5G data, 1GB speed for select customers.

The service is starting as a trial run only for Jio users in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi.

Beta testing is the final testing of a service before it is formally rolled out to the public.

In a statement released by Reliance Jio, “The 5G service is being offered as a beta test only to select Jio customers in 4 cities until the 5G service is fully launched and the service will be billed.

Jio subscribers selected for this trial will not need to change their mobile phone or SIM card. They are equipped to automatically convert to 5G services.

We are changing the technology so that 5 service is available on all types of mobile phones and 5G mobile phones. Through this, 5G service will be available without any interruption,” he said

Reliance CEO Mukesh Ambani, speaking at the Reliance General Assembly held last August, said that the 5G service will be launched by Diwali. Specifically, the service will be introduced in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. After that, the service will be gradually expanded and 5G service will be available in all cities, villages and taluks by December 2023, he said.
