Congresswoman Betssy Chávez (Democratic Peru), received parliamentary benefits while being Minister of State in the Government of Pedro Castillo, and at the same time received her salary as a member of the Executive.

A report from Panorama revealed that the legislator received S/ 7,617 as an allowance for congressional function when she was already Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion in October 2021.

The aforementioned report shows that, after requesting leave, she renounced her salary as a parliamentarian of the Republic, and also renounced the S/4,000 that is assigned to them as support for the week of representation.

In August 2022, being Minister of Culture, Chávez returned to collect his ministerial salary and S / 7, 617 for congressional function. Despite this, there is no record that the parliamentarian returned these funds.

A document was even released in which the legislator requests funds from the Mayor’s Office of Congress to hold an event in Tacna, her native region.
