jpnn.comBOGOR – Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS) Research Director Arman Salam said that candidates who want to contest the Bogor City Pilkada must be aware of two major negative issues that have the power to damage electability.

The two issues are polygamy and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender).

Although until now it is not clear who the candidate is who is indicated by the two negative issues.

“At least those are the two issues that we are currently hearing in a number of online media, that there are mayoral candidates who are suspected of being LGBT and polygamous,” said Arman to the media in Bogor City, Wednesday (3/7).

Previously, LSI researcher Denny JA M. Khotib had presented more or less the same data findings.

Based on the findings of the survey data, in almost all regions in Indonesia, the majority of the public, ranging from 50 percent to 75 percent, rejects candidates who practice polygamy.

According to Arman, if polygamy, which is religiously permitted, is rejected by the majority of voters of the candidates, what about LGBT, which is clearly prohibited by religion.

Arman explained that from a survey conducted by his institution, IPS, the results were also the same. In fact, on the LGBT issue, more than 70 percent rejected it.

Surveys of candidates suspected of being LGBT and polygamous in the Bogor mayoral election are at risk of falling.
