US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy, in his address to the Israeli Knesset on Monday, urged Israel to do more to ensure that China does not steal its technologies.
And McCarthy warned, according to the Israeli newspaper (The Jerusalem Post), that “our innovation is in danger from a new threat, which is the Chinese Communist Party.”
He added: “While the Chinese Communist Party may masquerade as a promoter of innovation, it is in reality behaving like thieves. We must not allow them to steal our technologies.”
McCarthy commended Israel for implementing the foreign investment review process, but added that he “strongly encourages Israel to strengthen its oversight of foreign investment – especially Chinese investment.”
On a related note, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives said: “Iran is the main threat to peace in the Middle East.”
“Most of the turmoil, violence, and instability in the region can be traced back to this source — Iran — which continues to fund terrorism, arm proxy militias, and pursue nuclear weapons,” McCarthy said.
“We cannot allow the Iranian regime’s vicious campaign to be crowned with success, and to deter this dangerous Iranian behavior, our two countries must remain united,” he added.
McCarthy continued by saying, “We stand shoulder to shoulder against Iranian regional aggression, and we must also remain firm in our commitment that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons.”
