jpnn.comJAKARTA – The name of Customs and Excise as an agency tasked with collecting state revenues is often misused by irresponsible fraudsters to gain profits from their victims.

In carrying out their actions, the perpetrators used various fraudulent methods.

The following are fraudulent methods in the name of Customs:

1. Fictitious online shop mode

The perpetrators offer goods on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram, at very cheap prices, even far below market prices to deceive potential victims.

After the sale and purchase transaction took place, another perpetrator contacted the victim claiming to be a Customs officer and stated that the goods purchased were illegal.

Afterwards, the perpetrator, who claimed to be a Customs officer, asked the victim to transfer a sum of money to the perpetrator’s personal account in order to fulfill his tax obligations.

This mode is mostly accompanied by threats of arrest by the authorities, imprisonment, or a very large fine, if the victim does not transfer the money.

2. Fake auction mode
