Bexar County Vehicle Chase Leads to Arrest, Detention of Seven Immigrants

Stolen Vehicle and Initial Pursuit
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) initiated the pursuit after receiving a tip regarding the stolen vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, traveling northbound into the county. Deputies located the Silverado in south Bexar County, at which point the driver, identified as Jhonn Sebastian Suspes Gordillo, 30, allegedly attempted to evade capture.
Suspes Gordillo’s flight triggered “a coordinated response involving multiple law enforcement agencies,” according to a preliminary report. The driver reportedly endangered public safety by nearly striking other vehicles before bringing the Silverado to a halt in the 6500 block of Military Drive West.
Arrest and Charges
Following the vehicle’s immobilization, multiple occupants exited the Silverado and attempted to flee on foot. Suspes Gordillo was taken into custody and now faces a series of serious charges, including:
- Six counts of smuggling of persons for pecuniary gain
- One count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
- One count of evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle
- One count of evading arrest or detention on foot
- One count of possession of a controlled substance
Authorities established a perimeter and conducted a search of the surrounding remote area. Seven individuals were subsequently apprehended for evading arrest or detention on foot. These individuals are confirmed to be immigrants lacking permanent legal status.
Vehicle Alterations and Ongoing Investigation
The stolen Chevrolet Silverado was found to have been modified with multiple license plates and had its passenger seats removed. This suggests a deliberate effort to conceal the vehicle’s purpose and facilitate the illegal transportation of individuals.
