Beypur (Kozhikode): With 18 days left for the football World Cup, preparations are on in Beypur along with Qatar. Although India was not lucky enough to play in the World Cup, Qatar is making its final preparations to become a ‘Beypur Uru’ star in the World Cup this time.

Even though there is no team and no players, Uru, the heritage of Beypur, is becoming a star by giving gifts to special guests who come to the World Cup. A 1,000 steel prototype with FIFA’s official hologram is crossing the sea from Beypur for the World Cup in Qatar. About half of this reached Qatar. The rest are being polished to be shipped.

The small models prepared by the experts in steel making in Beypur are given as special gifts to the dignitaries from different countries. This is a gift that can be treasured forever for those special people who will be watching the World Cup.

Among the four gifts given to the guests, Uru, which combines the heritage and craftsmanship of Beypur, has got a place in the cultural category. Their construction is in progress under the supervision of expert architects.

The construction is fully compliant with FIFA standards. All prizes are related to the history and culture of Qatar. The official sponsorship of the gifts was given to the company ‘Black Arrow Gifts and Novelties’.

This is the first time in history that Kerala will be represented in the prize category of the World Cup and a handicraft product from Kerala will be selected for the prize.
