Jeff Bezos’ Amazon is producing a documentary on the next first lady, Melania Trump.

According to AP on the 5th (local time), Amazon announced that it had acquired a license for a documentary about Melania.

In a statement, Amazon explained, “We will give you an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at Melania Trump,” and “we promise a truly unique story.”

Director Brett Ratner, known for the Rush Hour movie series, ‘X-Men: The Last War’, and ‘Red Dragon’, took the lead. Argentine film producer Fernando Sulicín will serve as executive producer.

Filming for the movie began last month. It is scheduled for a streaming and theatrical release on Amazon Prime Video later this year.

Bezos is actively providing support, announcing last month that he would donate $1 million to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund.

Prime Video announced that it would also stream President-elect Trump’s inauguration ceremony scheduled for the 20th through a separate in-kind donation worth $1 million.

President-elect Trump and Bezos had an uneasy relationship with each other in the past. President-elect Trump criticized Amazon during his first term, and also took issue with the tone of the Washington Post (WP), owned by Bezos.

However, since his success in re-election in November of last year, Bezos and other IT giants have been working to improve their relationship with President-elect Trump. President-elect Trump is also taking a conciliatory attitude.

Bezos also caused controversy in October of last year, before the presidential election, when he did not allow WP to declare support for the presidential candidate. At the time, tens of thousands of readers protested and canceled their subscriptions, and reporters continued to protest.

On the 4th, Pulitzer Prize winner Ann Telnes publicly revealed that she quit her job as a cartoonist for WP after being rejected for publishing a cartoon showing tech giants, including Bezos, kneeling in front of President-elect Trump.

In a statement to CNBC, David Shipley, editorial editor, refuted the decision, saying, “The decision was based on the fact that we had just published a column on the same topic as the cartoon and were already scheduled to publish another column.”
