Livestock breeders and beekeepers will be compensated with BGN 80,000 through the state aid scheme “Assistance for compensation of material damage due to dead farm animals and destroyed beehives as a result of natural disasters”. The financial resource was approved by the Management Board of the State Fund for Agriculture (SAF).
Financial support under the aid consists of direct aid to farmers who have suffered material damage as a result of earthquakes, avalanches, landslides and floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions and naturally occurring forest fires.
Farmers can be compensated for damages caused by natural disasters up to 100% of the average market prices of live agricultural animals by types and categories, including drains (Bee families), as well as destroyed beehives based on data from the Agricultural Market Information System – SAPI EOOD.
The allocated budget is to compensate for damages caused by floods and hurricane winds in 2022. With these funds, the farmers affected by the flood in September 2022 in the city of Plovdiv, commune. Karlovo, where cows, sheep, horses, bee colonies and hives were destroyed, as well as farmers with destroyed bee colonies as a result of a hurricane wind in the town of Kameno, Burgas region. Farmers from the listed areas who have ascertainment protocols for destroyed animals, bee colonies and hives are eligible for financing.
The DF “Agriculture”, together with the competent directorates in the Ministry of Agriculture, is to prepare guidelines for the provision of aid.
