Bhagalpur: A shocking case has come to light, where a person cheated many people by introducing himself as Senior Deputy Collector (SDO) of Bihar Government. Jogsar police station has arrested the accused Raj Pandey and his wife Pushpa Pandey. Raj Pandey used to cheat people by putting a board of Senior Deputy Collector in his car. Police has also seized his car.
The matter came to light when a case of fraud was registered in Jogsar police station on 28 June 2024. Jogsar SHO Krishna Nandan Kumar Singh had gone to Raj Pandey’s house with his team. He was preparing to go somewhere in his white luxury car. The police immediately caught him.
During interrogation, Raj Pandey could not show any valid document to prove himself as Senior Deputy Collector. At the time of arrest, Raj Pandey had plaster on both his legs. When asked, he said that he was undergoing treatment. Police released Raj Pandey and his wife on PR bond.
In this case, Jogsar police station in-charge Inspector Krishnanandan Kumar Singh has registered a case on his own statement. Raj Pandey has already been booked for fraud in Jogsar, Nathnagar and Siliguri in West Bengal.
City SP Raj said, ‘Such a case came to our notice and an FIR has been registered under Jogsar police station. When we investigated it, we found out that the accused Raj Pandey is a resident of Jogsar police station area. Earlier also an FIR of fraud has been registered against him in Jogsar police station. An FIR has also been registered in Nathnagar.’
He further said, ‘Some people also informed that he has also been jailed in Siliguri, West Bengal. We have contacted Siliguri police and asked for Raj Pandey’s horoscope. They told that he used to cheat people by posing as a fake officer. Action has been taken in this regard and an FIR has also been registered. The investigation is ongoing. Since the accused is unwell, he has been kept on PR bond.’
Raj Pandey is also accused of distributing fake Nagaland arms licenses in several districts including Bhagalpur and in West Bengal. He used to claim himself to be a resident of Jonho Bato, Dimapur, Nagaland.
Raj Pandey had distributed fake arms licenses to hundreds of people in many districts including Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Munger, Banka, Navgachiya. He used to charge four to five lakh rupees for one license.
Siliguri police had contacted Bhagalpur police to gather information related to Raj Pandey. People had taken fake arms licenses from Raj Pandey in many places including Nathnagar, Sabour, Adampur, Navgachiya, Sonvarsha in Bhagalpur.
Police say that many of the people who have taken licenses from Raj Pandey may have never visited Nagaland. Police are searching for such people to whom Raj Pandey has given fake licenses.
