Ilayaraja’s daughter Bhavatarini, who was suffering from cancer and was receiving Ayurvedic treatment in Sri Lanka, died yesterday after the treatment failed. His body was brought to Chennai by air. After arriving at the Chennai airport, Bhavatharini’s body was taken to Ilayaraja’s house in Thiagaraya Nagar.
There, Minister Udayanidhi Stalin and DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth personally paid tribute to Bhavadarini’s body. Similarly, actors Sivakumar, Ramarajan, Vishal, Karthi, Simbu, Vijay Antony, Vishnu Vishal, Satish, Anandraj, Udaya, Vijay’s mother and singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, Gayathri Raghuram also paid tributes.
Directors SB Muthuraman, Mani Ratnam, Myshkin, Lingusamy, RK Selvamani, Eshil, Venkat Prabhu, Vethimaran, Seenu Ramasamy, Sudha Kongara, cinema stunt master Jaguar Thangam, poet Muthulingam and other celebrities paid their last respects. A large number of people also paid tribute to Bhavadharani’s body.
Following public tributes, Bhavatarini’s body was taken to Theni by a special ambulance last night and reached Theni at 11 am today. There, the body of Bhavatarini will be cremated today at 12 noon near the mausoleum of Ilayaraja’s mother Chinnatai and wife Jeeva at Pannai House in the Lower Camp area.
