Great day for French women’s biathlon. While the men confirmed their difficulties at the start of the season in the morning, with Éric Perrot’s 10th place as their best result, the Blues were much more effective in the Hochfilzen sprint. Thanks to an almost perfect shot (only one fault) and a remarkable skiing time, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet grabbed third place, 20 seconds behind the winner, the Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. This is her first individual podium of the season, the first since returning from maternity leave. Julia Simon achieved the 7th time.

But these are not the only satisfactions of this Friday. Despite two faults on the standing shot, which dropped her to 15th place in the standings for this sprint, Lou Jeanmonnot took the yellow jersey of the leader of the general classification of the World Cup. Second, three points behind Franziska Preuss after her victories in the sprint and the pursuit in Östersund last weekend, the Doubienne benefits from the absence of the German, who had to withdraw after contracting the coronavirus.

The Frenchwoman will, however, have to perform during the pursuit, scheduled for this Saturday at 2:45 p.m., if she wants to end the weekend in yellow. Because Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, who will start this pursuit in the lead, with 1′12″ ahead of Jeanmonnot, is only 12 points behind Lou Jeanmonnot. But his shooting skills and the confidence accumulated since the start of the season could allow him to continue to dream of a big crystal globe.

For the men, this Hochfilzen sprint was much more delicate. Thanks to his 9/10 on the shooting range, Éric Perrot finished 10th and first Habs. Émilien Jacquelin, less successful in shooting (8/10), can still hope to achieve a good pursuit since he will start in 13th position, 56 seconds behind Tarjei Boe, winner this Friday. It will be more complicated for Quentin Fillon Maillet (18th with three shooting errors), Antonin Guigonnat (20th despite being flawless) and Fabien Claude (45th with four missed targets).
