Biathlon: Quentin Fillon Maillet takes his first podium of the season

In difficulty since the start of the season, the Frenchman, winner of the Big Globe last season, found the podium in Pokljuka, Slovenia. Yet starting in 9th position, the double Olympic champion managed to return to second place, to fail at 1′04″90 behind the winner Johannes Boe.

A 19 out of 20 in shooting has, in particular, allowed the Jura player to overcome many competitors, and to get ahead, in particular, of Tarjei Boe. After several complicated performances, Quentin Fillon Maillet was all smiles at the end of the event.

With this positive result, the French climbs on the podium of the general, 298 points of the dolphin Sturla Lægreid, and 402 points of Johannes Boe, who won, this Saturday, his seventh individual success of the season. The Norwegian had already won the sprint on Friday, and was the author of an 18 out of 20 shooting during the pursuit.

Two mixed relays on the program this Sunday

Fabien Claude ranked 13th in the day’s event, and will be back on the Pokljuka tracks this Sunday. He will participate in the mixed relay with Quentin Fillon Maillet, alongside Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet and Julia Simon (2:25 p.m.). Antonin Guigonnat and Lou Jeanmonnot will defend the colors of France during the single mixed relay (11:45 a.m.).

Among the women, Julia Simon finished 3rd in the pursuit, won by Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg. The Frenchwoman remains first in the general classification.
