Possible Deal for Release of 80 Hostages from Hamas Captivity

The American NBC network reported today (Sunday) from officials in the Biden administration that there is a possible deal for the release of 80 hostages from Hamas captivity. According to the sources, the deal will include the release of 80 women and children held captive by Hamas, in exchange for the release of Palestinian women and youth held in Israeli prisons.

At the same time, the Reuters news agency reported that Hamas is suspending the negotiations as a protest against the treatment of the Israeli forces at Shifa Hospital.

The report comes at the moment of the prime minister’s interview with the American network, in which he stated that “the ground operation in the Gaza Strip affects the issue of the release of the abductees”, adding that “we have a lot of information about the location of the abductees. If there is a deal, then we will discuss it.” Later, he also referred to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza, around which heavy exchanges of fire are taking place, and said that “we offered to deliver fuel that would allow the Shifa Hospital to operate in the Gaza Strip, but Hamas refused.”

He added: “We also proposed to establish a field hospital in the south of the Gaza Strip, and to help move the patients south, but Hamas is hiding under the hospital, and does not want the hospital to receive the fuel.”

The situation is ongoing and developments are expected in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
