Biden thanked Michiganders for their support, noting that “despite this progress, we still have much more to do.”
In the Republican primaries, after 85% of the votes have been counted, Trump is in the lead. The ex-president received about 68% of the vote, while his closest rival, former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, received about 27%. About 3% chose no candidate and about 1% voted for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has already dropped out of the race.
Trump also thanked voters, noting that the results were much better than he and his team expected. It is worth noting that this is not the end of intra-party elections in Michigan; Republican caucuses will be held in the state on Saturday.
