US President Joseph Biden ordered to allocate financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to $ 60 million at the expense of the US Pentagon. This was reported in a memorandum circulated on Friday, August 27, by the press service of the White House.

“With my inherent power in accordance with the Constitution of the United States of America, I delegate to the Secretary of State the authority to allocate funds of up to $ 60 million for defense products and services of the Ministry of Defense, as well as for military education and training to assist Ukraine,” document signed by Joe Biden.

Ahead of meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

In June, before meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden temporarily froze the implementation of a plan to provide military assistance to Ukraine, prepared in the spring in the event of Moscow’s military aggression against Kiev.

Biden made the decision to provide additional aid to Ukraine ahead of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, scheduled for August 31 in Washington. As the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki said earlier, “the visit will confirm the unwavering support of the United States for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the face of the ongoing Russian aggression in Donbass and Crimea.”
