“Today I am announcing an increase in security assistance to Ukraine and a series of additional measures to help Ukraine win this war,” Biden said in a statement.
“In order to improve Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities, I have decided to provide Ukraine with a long-range Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW),” the president said while announcing US support for Ukraine on Thursday.
In order to further strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, the Ministry of Defense has been ordered to repair an additional “Patriot” air defense battery and provide it to Ukraine along with additional missiles, Biden said.
Zelensky has already expressed his gratitude for the new support.
“We will use this assistance in the most effective and transparent way possible to achieve our main common goal – the victory of Ukraine, a just and lasting peace and transatlantic security,” the Ukrainian president assured on social networks.
Biden also directed the Pentagon to expand the F-16 fighter pilot training program and train 18 more Ukrainian pilots next year.
