The President of the United States, Joe Biden, tested positive for COVID-19 this Wednesday, prompting him to cancel his attendance at a campaign event that was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, where he was set to deliver a speech aimed at at a crucial time for the presidential elections.

White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, reported that the 81-year-old leader has returned to his residence in Delaware, where he will continue to “fulfill all his duties completely” while isolating. She also reminded that he is vaccinated — with booster doses — and added that he is experiencing mild symptoms.

“I tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon, but I feel fine and appreciate all your good wishes. I will isolate while I recover, and during this time, I will continue to do my work for the good of the American people,” Biden stated, noting that he participated in an interview and met with supporters at a local market through his profile on the social network X during the day.

Throughout the day, Biden, amidst increasing tensions within his party, the Democrats, for him to abandon his aspirations for re-election, assured that he would reconsider his presidential candidacy if a doctor diagnosed him with any illness. About twenty congress members have spoken out against his candidacy, with the latest being influential California representative Adam Schiff.
