For Joe Biden, this is now an official red line. In an interview with CNN, the American president declared on Wednesday that he would suspend the delivery of certain weapons to Israel in the event of a major offensive by the Jewish state in Rafah. This is Biden’s most direct threat to Benjamin Netanyahu so far, while the United States is by far Israel’s largest arms supplier.

Negotiations continue in Egypt
On Wednesday, the Israeli army continued to carry out bombings and “targeted” ground operations in Rafah. Seven months after the October 7 attack, the Israeli Prime Minister is threatening to launch a major offensive against this city where more than a million Palestinians are refugees, in order to deal a fatal blow to the armed brigades of Hamas.
At the same time, an Israeli delegation continues to participate in negotiations in Cairo with a view to a possible truce. According to the WHO, there is an emergency: hospitals in southern Gaza only have three days of fuel left and could “soon stop functioning”.
