Reuters learned what US sanctions will be imposed in case of a “full-scale invasion”
Earlier, Biden held a briefing on Ukraine, at which he announced four blocks of sanctions, which will be tightened depending on Moscow’s actions. They include restrictions on Russian financial institutions, PSB and VEB banks, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the Russian elite and their family members. The sanctions will also affect Russia’s sovereign debt.
Thus, the United States is going to respond to Russia’s recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the signing of agreements on their support, including military support. Also, the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions was announced in the EU and the UK.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the new sanctions are illegitimate.
