The pet is a German shepherd called Commander, and he is two years old. According to an email from the Secret Service, this is the 11th case of a dog bite.
In November last year, a police officer was also hospitalized after being bitten by Commander on the arms and thighs. The dog arrived at the White House in 2021.
In another incident in October, first lady Jill Biden “was unable to regain control” of the dog after it attacked another member of the Secret Service team.
“I believe it is only a matter of time before an agent/officer is attacked or bitten,” an agency official warned in an email.
