Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed on Wednesday (July 24) with major declines in indices. On this day, compared to the previous working day, the amount of transactions has decreased a lot. At the same time, the share prices of most of the companies participating in the transaction and mutual fund units fell.

According to DSE and CSE sources, at the end of the day, the main index of DSE, DSEX, is down 95.66 points from the previous day at 5,350 points. The DSE Shariah index fell by 2187 points to 1,169 points and the DS30 index fell by 37.28 points to 1,908 points.

A total of 380 shares and units of companies were traded on DSE. Among them, the share and unit prices of 20 companies increased, 355 decreased and 15 remained unchanged.

A total of 159 crore 37 lakh shares and units were traded in DSE on this day. Shares and units worth Tk 371 crore 52 lakh were traded on the previous working day.

On the other hand, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CSCX index is down 108.40 points to 9 thousand 262 points. Overall index CASPI decreased by 177.92 points to 15 thousand 388 points, Sharia index decreased by 13.47 points to 999 points and CSE30 index decreased by 194.37 points to 11 thousand 998 points.

Shares and units of 142 companies were traded on CSE. Among them, share and unit prices of 6 companies increased, 126 companies decreased and 10 companies remained unchanged.

At the end of the day, shares and units of Tk 2 crore 51 lakh were traded in CSE. Shares and units worth Tk 10 crore 85 lakh were traded on the previous working day.

Incidentally, after being closed for 5 days, the capital market of the country reopened today on Wednesday (July 24). However, the trading time on Wednesday is slightly less than the usual time. Trading started at 11 am today in two stock exchanges of the country. This transaction lasts till 2 pm. Transactions will continue on the same schedule on Thursday as well. Due to the 3-day general holiday given by the executive order, all the offices and courts of the country were closed from last Sunday to Tuesday. The country’s capital market was also closed for the same reason. This holiday was announced due to the situation caused by the quota reform movement and the imposition of curfew. The previous two days, Friday and Saturday, were weekends.
