Big drug bust in Saudi Arabia; Security forces seized 700,000 pills

Riyadh: Saudi border security forces have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into the country. Security forces on Wednesday seized 708,910 amphetamine pills during a successful operation.

Col. Misfir al-Kharini, director general of the Border Security Force, said a variety of drugs were seized during the operation. The drugs were seized during an operation by Land and Sea Patrols in Jizan, Najran, Azir, Al Jawaf and Tabuk. The Saudi border security forces shared a video of the drug seizure on Twitter.

About 120 people from different countries were arrested in connection with the incident. Of these, 40 are Saudi nationals. The remaining 80 are from Yemen, Ethiopia, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia and Pakistan. Colonel al-Kharini said preliminary measures had been taken against those arrested. The seized drugs were handed over to the concerned authorities.
