New Delhi: Hardik Pandya is tipped to replace KL Rahul as India’s vice-captain in Twenty20 cricket. There are reports that the selectors are coming to the announcement of making Hardik Pandya the vice-captain of the Twenty20 World Cup team.
Hardik has made great strides in just five months. The Gujarat Titans in the IPL and the success of the Indian team prompted the selectors to try Hardik as a captain.
Hardik captained India in the tour of Ireland
Hardik was made vice-captain for the first time in the Ekiraya series against South Africa. Here, Hardik showed excellence in batting and bowling. Later, Hardik became India’s captain in the tour of Ireland. The selectors are thinking of elevating Hardik to the position of vice-captain as KL Rahul is suffering from an injury now.
Rahul is likely to continue as the vice-captain in Tests and ODIs. It is not yet clear whether Hardik Pandya will return to the Test. But the possibility of Hardik returning to Red Ball cricket is rare. This is because India have Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur up front in Tests as all-rounders.
