Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and Riddhi Dogra starrer ‘The Sabarmati Report’ was scheduled to release on August 2, 2024. However, recent reports have revealed that the film is being re-shot and its director Ranjan Chandel has decided to back out of the film. Confirming this, Ranjan Chandel said, ‘I took the decision to back out of the film myself.’ Explaining the reason behind his decision, director Ranjan Chandel said, ‘I shot the entire film but then the producers wanted to add some more things to it. He did not want to reshoot it. I did not agree with those changes as the film was based on a sensitive subject. However, the producers wanted to do the same, so I decided to back out of it. There were some creative differences between me and the producers, which I did not agree with and I could not make the film with those changes.’

A film based on the Godhra incident

‘The Sabarmati Report’ is based on the Godhra train fire incident, which occurred on the Sabarmati Express on the morning of February 27, 2002. A total of 59 Hindu pilgrims and kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya were killed when the train caught fire near the Godhra railway station in the state of Gujarat. The incident was the result of religious riots. However, its cause is disputed to this day.

‘The Sabarmati Report’ was to be released on May 3

Ranjan Chandel said, ‘There are reports that the film went to CBFC for a certificate and after that changes are being made in it and they have suggested those changes and hence the film is being postponed. However, this is not true at all.’ Let us tell you that this movie was earlier going to be released on 3 May. Then it was postponed to 2 August. But now the director has left the film. So now there is no information about when it will release.
