Patna: Now in Bihar, those who cheat in exams and those who make others cheat will not be spared. Nitish government is bringing a strict law in the assembly today (Wednesday) to stop paper leak and rigging. Under this law, those who leak the paper can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to Rs 1 crore. This law will apply to everyone, be it a student, a teacher or anyone else.

The draft of the new law was presented on Monday

In fact, the Bihar government presented the draft of this new law in the assembly on Monday. The name of this law is ‘Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024’. The central government has already made such a law and has also asked the states to implement it. According to this bill, if any person is caught cheating in the examination, he can be jailed for a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years. Also, a fine can also be imposed on him.

According to the bill, if a student is caught cheating in the exam, he can be sentenced to 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and fined up to Rs 10 lakh. If the company or institution conducting the exam breaks the rules, a fine of up to Rs 1 crore can be imposed on it. Also, that institution can be blacklisted for 4 years. Whatever loss occurs due to the irregularities in the exam, that institution will have to compensate for it.

Now DSP rank officers will investigate

If any person or group connivance with the exam conducting body commits fraud, then they can face 5 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore. The new law also has a provision to confiscate the property of the guilty body. If any government official is found involved in the paper leak, then he can face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore. Apart from this, now the paper leak will be investigated by DSP rank officers.
