Patna: ‘Lalu ji should remember that during the 15 years of his rule, there was no governance at all. Even the wife of an IAS officer was not safe. That rule was run by Lalu ji. He has no moral right to speak. Political turmoil has erupted over the issue of rape in Bihar. Responding to a tweet by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has described Lalu’s reign as ‘Jungle Raj’ and said he has no right to speak about Bihar.

Political turmoil over rape incidents

Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary raised the issue of rape of an IAS officer’s wife during Lalu Yadav’s regime. He said that even the wife of an IAS officer was not safe during his rule.

The controversy started when Lalu Yadav retweeted a list of increasing crimes in Bihar shared by Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. Lalu Yadav had written ‘Bihar=rape’ 32 times in his tweet, on which Upendra Kushwaha has also given a sharp reaction.

Lalu Yadav wrote 32 times- ‘Bihar = Rape’

In fact, the opposition is continuously attacking the Nitish government regarding the increasing crimes in Bihar. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav shares a list of criminal incidents happening in the state on social media every day.

On September 28 also, Tejashwi Yadav had shared a list of 20 such criminal incidents, which included serious crimes like rape, sexual exploitation and assault. While retweeting the same post of Tejashwi, Lalu Yadav had written ‘Bihar = rape’ 32 times.

Kushwaha also raised questions on Lalu’s post

This tweet of Lalu Yadav has been criticized not only by Samrat Chaudhary but also by RLM leader Upendra Kushwaha. Accusing Lalu Yadav of insulting Bihar, he said, ‘Lalu ji, the Bihar that has placed you on its lap has expressed so much confidence…! Today, saying ‘Bihar=rape’ 32 times for the same Bihar is not an attack on Bihari identity and the glorious history of Bihar?

Upendra Kushwaha further wrote that ‘committing a heinous crime like rape in an area is the result of the criminal mentality of some people there. On the basis of this, it is unfortunate that you have named the entire state like this. Especially whose reign has been called Jungle Raj by the people of Bihar and the country. He has no moral right to say anything.

He said that ‘today, if any crime takes place in Bihar, immediate action is taken and the accused are arrested, whereas during Lalu’s regime, crime conspiracies were hatched in the Chief Minister’s residence itself and criminals were given protection. ‘

Samrat mentioned this incident related to IAS

In fact, during the reign of Lalu Yadav, the wife of an IAS officer was allegedly raped for two consecutive years. It is alleged that the son of an RJD leader along with his associates had committed this heinous act. The matter was revealed by the then opposition leader Sushil Kumar Modi in a press conference in 1997.

In this case, the accused was found guilty by the lower court and sentenced. Later the Patna High Court overturned the lower court’s decision. The High Court had said in its decision that if the woman continued to be raped for two years, then why did she not tell about it earlier? Later this matter was hushed up. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has mentioned this matter while targeting Lalu Yadav.
