Muzaffarpur: A major accident was averted on Monday on the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur rail section. Bihar Sampark Kranti Express (12565) going from Darbhanga to New Delhi split into two parts between Karpuri Gram and Pusa station. The engine and one coach of the train separated from the rest of the train and moved ahead. Fortunately, the driver immediately applied the brakes, due to which a major accident was averted.
The engine and bogie got separated near Pooja station
The incident happened in the afternoon when 12565 Bihar Sampark Kranti Express left Samastipur at 9.45 for its destination New Delhi. The train was running on time. As soon as the train moved ahead of Karpuri Gram station and reached near Pusa station, suddenly the engine and one coach got separated from the rest of the train.
Emergency brace causes panic among passengers
The engine and the coach had gone ahead by about 100 meters when the driver applied emergency brakes. This sudden incident created panic among all the passengers in the train. However, the situation was soon brought under control and there is no news of any casualties. The driver very carefully brought the engine back and attached it to the separated coaches. After this, the entire train was stopped at Pusa station for inspection. Due to this incident, the train was delayed for more than an hour. After the inspection, the train was dispatched after 1.30 pm.
Railways orders probe into the incident
Senior DST of Samastipur Railway Division has ordered an inquiry into this incident. Initial investigation has revealed that this accident happened due to a fault in the coupling part connecting the train coaches. Regarding this incident, a passenger told that 12565 Bihar Sampark Kranti Express going from Darbhanga to New Delhi left Samastipur at 9.45. Running on its scheduled time, this train had just reached a little before Pusa station while moving ahead from Karpuri Gram when suddenly the engine of the train moved ahead with a general coach. While the remaining 19 bogies were left behind.
After investigation the train was sent further
