HOUSTON ∙ President Joe Biden may have been among those who laughed at former President Donald Trump’s tirade over the discovery of classified files. But with Biden caught up in classified documents before the laughs subsided, the talk now is to let anyone fall into this trap.
A former adviser to Bill Clinton has hit back at Biden after his careless handling of classified files implicating President Joe Biden could put the Democratic front-runner out of the 2024 ‘race’ forever. Dick Morris, who worked with Clinton, estimates that ‘for Biden, this will be the end of it all.’
About 30 documents have been found from the Washington DC think tank that Biden once used as an office. The release of Biden’s classified files comes months after a raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida yielded dozens of classified files. It is also noteworthy that Morris was one of Trump’s advisers.
Also this month, it emerged that classified documents were found at the home of Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence. The problem here is not that everyone took the classified documents home. Morris John says Biden’s situation is unique because some of the documents recovered from his private quarters contain ‘classified information about US policy towards Ukraine’
Many of the leaked documents date back to when Biden was vice president. He even led anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine when Biden was vice president. His son was on the board of the Ukrainian energy company for several years, starting in 2014. All of this has now trapped Biden.
Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings are under investigation by Congress and the Justice Department. But Biden’s only defense is that the president himself was not involved in any wrongdoing. But Morris alleged that Biden’s classified documents were part of a “huge bribery scandal” involving his son and his business in Ukraine. He also claimed that it would knock Biden out of the race.
The former White House adviser also shared the results of a survey conducted with veteran pollster John McLaughlin. According to the survey, Biden is ahead of the Democratic nominees in the field of competition in 2024. But he has only 25 percent support. “When Biden can’t get more than 25 percent of the primary vote in his own party as president, that’s death. He’s incredibly vulnerable,’ Morris said. This breakdown is where 40-50 percent should be. He also believes that Biden will not be able to even get through the primary if his opponent wins.
Despite the revelations of classified documents becoming a public relations crisis for Biden, his lawyers have pointed out that the president’s approach to handling classified files is very different from that of his predecessor. Biden’s lawyers turned the documents over to the Justice Department as soon as they found them. He also clarified that he will cooperate with the investigating officers at every stage. He took steps, including facilitating a continued search by federal officials who found additional documents at Biden’s home last weekend.
However, a new NBC poll on Sunday suggests that Americans are just as upset with Biden as they are with Trump. Exactly 67 percent said that the discovery of secret documents from the two leaders’ homes was ‘disturbing’ to some extent. The ranks of both are waiting to see how it will develop in the coming days.
