Bill Kaulitz stumbles across the stage and talks about “levels of drunkenness”. Strange scenes occurred at a Tokio Hotel performance in Cologne.
When Tokio Hotel is in town, there is a hustle and bustle. This time, however, it was not masses of groupies that caused the excitement, but the band members themselves. As part of the CSD in Cologne, Bill Kaulitz and Co. gave a concert on Saturday at the Heumarkt that lasted almost an hour until just before 11 p.m.
The crowds of spectators were large, and there was even talk of a threat of mass panic. The organizer denied this view, saying: “Friday was fuller than usual, Saturday was fuller than usual,” said the event’s spokesman, Hugo Winkler, adding: “There was a security concept, everything was well prepared to seal off entrances in the event of overcrowding.”
But there is something else that is currently spreading on social media: a clip of Bill Kaulitz stumbling across the stage. Had the band’s singer previously looked too deeply into his glass? He himself said: “Oh, sorry by the way: It could be that I’ve already had a bottle of champagne, maybe two or a bottle.” The 34-year-old laughed loudly, the audience cheered.
He asked the audience, slurring his words slightly: “How is it with you? What is the drunkenness level here?” Then we see Bill Kaulitz – dressed in a revealing latex outfit – running across the stage, jumping, stumbling and falling.
The clip is being discussed on social media. On X, for example, one user says: “Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel has successfully completed all levels of drunkenness.” The incident also comes as a surprise because the Tokio Hotel singer has claimed in the past that he abstains from alcohol during concerts or when he is on tour with his brother Tom and the band. He said this, among other things, in a conversation with ZDF presenter Jan Böhmermann as part of the show “Böhmi brutzelt”, which was broadcast in summer 2022.
But alcohol consumption is always a topic for the Kaulitz brothers – including in their joint podcast. There, Tom once accused his twin of consuming too much. Bill then admitted: “Yes, I’m a little drunk.” Just like now in Cologne…
