Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Mohammed bin Shatwan, visited the Sarir oil field, the largest field in the company.
According to what the company published, “The tour began with a visit to Complex No. (4) to view it and discuss the removal of sand and obstacles surrounding the complex, followed by a visit to Charlie Well 59 to follow up on what has been accomplished within the plan to increase production. Bin Shatwan and the accompanying delegation listened during a field tour of the field to the warehouse supervisors.”
The Chairman of the Board of Directors also visited the “L63 Turbine Project, which aims to end the chronic shortage of electricity generation in the Sarir and Masla fields, to provide the electricity needed for future expansion plans in the two fields, which aim to increase the production of the two fields.”
The company’s media office stated, “The project was launched by the company’s management committee in 2014, but the security situation that the country went through during that period delayed implementation due to the fear of many contractors of working in Libyan territory.”
He explained that “in 2018, work began on implementing the project after supplying the turbines, which were transported by sea from the United States of America to Libya to reach the port of Brega, and from there they were transported by land to the Sarir field in an arduous journey that lasted for several days due to the large number of project equipment and the heavy weight of most of it.”
He added, “By the end of June 2024, the final launching and trial operation of the project will be completed, and these turbines will be put into actual service.”
This visit comes as part of a series of periodic visits conducted by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company’s management committee to all the company’s fields and sites. At the end of the visit, Bin Shatwan honored the parties participating in the project’s implementation. He also announced that the training hall in the field would be named “The Late Ibrahim Bin Ghashir Hall,” one of the former supervisors of the Sarir field, in honor of him and to commemorate his memory among his colleagues and friends.
