Thalassery: The panel supported by Bineesh Kodiyeri won the Kannur District Cricket Association elections. Bineesh was also selected as the representative of the Kerala Cricket Association. Current Secretary V P Anas will continue as Secretary. Fijaz Ahmed is the president. People including former office-bearers came against Bineesh’s panel, but the victory remained with them.

Along with Bineesh, Krishnaraj was re-elected with 38 and 32 votes respectively. 50 clubs had voting rights. All 17 contestants on Bineesh’s panel won. President ACM Fijaz Ahmed got 35 votes.

Secretary VP Anas got 33 votes and Khajanji K Nawaz got 34 votes. In the opposition panel, VB Ishaq, who contested for the post of president, got 13 votes, and Talassery municipal councilor COD Shabir, who contested for the post of secretary, got 15 votes.

Earlier, NC Devanand and COT Shabir had approached the High Court stating that the election was not being held as per the bylaws. The interim verdict of the High Court is that let the election be held, but the office-bearers should not take office without issuing a further order.
