which is engaged in the research and development, marketing and sale of computerized systems for detecting abnormal cells and developing tests that help detect cancer, received final approval for a cooperation project in the field of diagnosis and adjustment of cancer treatment from a joint government fund of South Korea and Israel (Koril).

As part of the project, Bio View and the Korean company Capio Biosciences will jointly develop technology in the field of liquid biopsy with funding of up to 1 million dollars from Koril. The grant will be given for the purpose of developing a test for head and neck cancer patients, which combines the unique technologies of the two companies to isolate the cancer cells from the patient’s blood, identify them and characterize them.

The collaboration will include conducting a clinical study based on approximately 120 patients located in Korea in collaboration with a Korean hospital, for the purpose of accumulating information that will support clinical indications that are not adequately addressed today. As part of the funded project, Bio View and Capio will develop a test that will provide the answer to clinical needs including: early identification of head and neck cancer patients who have progressed to a metastatic state (2 tests per year), introduction of an alternative test to the invasive biopsy, for approval of target-oriented treatment and/or immunotherapy treatment (annual examination) and monitoring of treated patients for early detection of the resistance of the cancerous tumor to treatment (annual examination).

CEO of BioView Dr. Alan Schweibel: “We are happy to be among the only Israeli companies to receive funding from Koril. We will continue to develop additional applications in the field of liquid biopsy in order to implement the vision of developing non-invasive tests to help in detection, monitoring and therapy selection for cancer patients.”
