Biography of Mr. Ahmed Tazi, new ambassador of His Majesty the King to the United Arab Emirates

After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Modern Literature in 1983 and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in 1988, Mr. Tazi continued his postgraduate studies in “English Language and Literature” at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Mohammed V Rabat-Agdal University and in law at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of the same university.

This former Moroccan ambassador to Egypt also obtained the certificate of the Far East and South Asia Center for Strategic Studies from the National Defense University in Washington DC.

Mr. Tazi began his professional career in 1989 as Secretary of Foreign Affairs, before taking up the position of Research Officer in the Prime Minister’s Office in 1991. In 1994, he took up the position of Mission Officer to the Prime Minister.

He also served as Advisor to the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah in 1997, Advisor to the Secretary General in charge of coordination between the General Secretariat, the subsidiary organs and the specialized institutions under the organization, Deputy Head of the Office of the Secretary General of the OIC and finally, Director of Coordination between the General Secretariat of the Organization and its subsidiary organs in 1998.

In 2000, Mr. Tazi was appointed foreign affairs advisor before joining the legal affairs department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a year later.

In 2009, he was appointed Director of Cultural and Scientific Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, in 2011, Director of Arab and Islamic Affairs, then Director of Mashreq, the Gulf and Arab and Islamic Organizations in the same department.

Mr. Ahmed Tazi is married and father of 3 children.
