Biography of Mr. Fouad Akhrif, new Ambassador of His Majesty the King to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Rabat – Mr. Fouad Akhrif, whom His Majesty King Mohammed VI appointed as Ambassador of Morocco to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, was born on July 30, 1960 in Tetouan.

After completing his higher education at the Faculty of Law and Economics at Mohammed V University in Rabat, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in 1983. In 1988, he served as First Secretary at the Moroccan Embassy in Rome, then as Deputy Head of Mission at the Kingdom’s Embassy in Kuwait.

Back in Rabat, Mr. Akhrif was appointed head of the bilateral relations division at the Arab and Islamic Affairs Directorate (2006-2011), then mission officer at the minister’s office.

In 2012, he was appointed head of the Gulf Division at the Directorate of Mashreq, the Gulf and Arab and Islamic Organizations. Since November 2017, he has held the position of Director of this structure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad.

Mr. Akhrif is the author of a book entitled: “The Moroccan Sahara: History, Law and Politics.”

Morocco’s new ambassador to Jordan is married and the father of two children.
