BFor a long time, thousands of Germans could feel like guinea pigs if they wanted to spoil their mood: At the beginning of April, the Standing Vaccination Commission advised anyone who had only received one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to take the second dose of the competing product To switch to Biontech. The reason was the increased number of thromboses after the Vaxzevria injection, especially in the brain vessels of younger people.

At the time, no one could really judge whether the strategy would work. At this time, no one had tried such a mixed vaccine, a so-called heterologous Covid-19 vaccination, in scientific studies. Theoretical considerations alone suggested that such a mixture would work.

The first data on so-called heterologous vaccination are now available. And they are quite surprising.
