1596 — the formed Brest Union.

1805 — the British fleet under the command of a vice admiral Horatio Nelson won a victory over the combined fleets of France and Spain at the Battle of Trafalgar. Nelson himself died in the battle, but the victory gave the British absolute domination of the sea for the next 100 years.

1917 – the first issue of the newspaper “Belarusian Krynitsa” – the organ of the Belarusian Christian Democracy – was published. It was published mainly in Vilnius until July 12, 1940.
1926 — the Jewish Theater opened in Minsk.

1935 — Nazi Germany officially withdrew from the League of Nations.
1943 — the Minsk Jewish ghetto, which existed since July 20, 1941, was liquidated. Of its more than 100,000 inhabitants, about 80,000 were killed during this time.

1877 — Yaakov Afanasyev, Belarusian scientist-geologist, academician. The first land map of Belarus was compiled under his leadership. Together with him, on December 20, 1937, more than 200 Belarusian scientists were shot in Minsk.
1878 — Vladimir Pichetta, Belarusian historian, first rector of BSU. He studied the history of the Great Patriotic War, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Russia of the 16th–20th centuries. He published about 150 works on history, historiography, archeology, archival studies, regional studies, and the history of Belarusian law.
