Traffic on the roads of France promises to be difficult, especially on Saturday, according to the government service.
The first weekend of the summer school holidays was marked by traffic jams. Starting this Friday, many French people will go on vacation, as school is over this week throughout the country. “Therefore significant travel is expected on all major roads in the country, especially in the direction of departures”alert Smart Bison, adding that “Traffic will be heavy on many important routes to the North-West, South, and from the Île-de-France region”.
This FridayFrance is already orange in the direction of departures, and even red in Île-de-France, indicating traffic “very talkative” on the area. Problems will appear in the Ile-de-France region, “since dawn”, like on the A6 and A10, on the ring road, A86 or A6B. They will last “Until Evening”. Elsewhere, the problems will be mainly focused on the roads that go to Normandy, Brittany, Pays de la Loire, the South of France or the North-East, according to Bison futé. In the direction of returns, in contrast, no disruption is expected. It is also best to leave Île-de-France before midday, and avoid the busiest roads throughout the afternoon.
On Friday, serious problems are expected in the direction of departures.

The roads will be even going THE SABBATH DAY : that day, all of France is shown in red. The most important problems are expected on the axes operating West (A11 and A13), South (A7, A9, A10) and the Alps (A43). Access to Italy through the Mont-Blanc tunnel will also be difficult. “The roads working in the North-East (A2, A25, A3) and Brittany (N165) will also be used a lot”, adds Smart Bison. In Île-de-France, roads will increase “Early in the morning on the A10 motorway and to a lesser extent on the A6 motorway”before continuing “Until mid-afternoon”. Here again, no interruption is feared in contrast.
Bison futé recommends that drivers leave Île-de-France before 6 a.m., and avoid the busiest roads between dawn – around 9 or 10 a.m. – and the end of the afternoon, around 5 p.m.
A calmer Sunday on the way
Sunday, a large departure will complicate traffic in the Great West, the North and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region. The A7 motorway, in particular, will be very active between Lyon and Orange throughout the day. Likewise, “The axes operating Spain (A63) and Massif-Central (A75) will also experience problems in the middle of the afternoon”. The rest of France is classified as green by the forecast organization.
The roads should still be safe on Sunday.

In Île-de-France, traffic will be heavy on the A6 and A10 highways. And the A13 may experience some traffic problems from mid-morning. You are therefore advised to leave or cross Île-de-France before 8am on Sunday.
