This is a revelation that could be a bombshell in the cryptocurrency community… or not. In “Money Electric – The Bitcoin Mystery”, broadcast tonight on the American pay channel HBO, director Cullen Hoback follows in the footsteps of Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin. His true identity, according to his findings: Peter Todd, a former Bitcoin developer. Interviewed in the documentary, the Canadian computer scientist however continued to deny it on camera.
“If I were Satoshi, I would have destroyed my ability to prove it so that I would never be tempted to do it,” he explains in an interview conducted in Latvia in a former World War II bunker. “Aren’t you Satoshi?” » tries the director. “Oh no, I’m Satoshi, we’re all Satoshi,” replies this developer known for his sarcastic remarks and for predicting… that one day Bitcoin will no longer be worth anything.
His name is unknown to the general public and also to specialists and other Bitcoiners because he does not appear in the list of people approached like Adam Back or Nick Szabo in the betting list on the Polymarket website. Historically, he has been the scientific director of the Bitcoin project since its inception.
