Bitter win against WAC – FC Blau-Weiß Linz

by time news

After the international break, it was finally “Matchday” again today at Hofmann’s Personal Stadium! The blue-whites received the WAC in the 10th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. Both teams were looking to return to winning ways. Although the Royal Blues were able to take a point from Tyrol in the last game, Didi Kühbauer’s team had to concede the victory against TSV Hartberg 3-2.

Coach Gerald Scheiblehner was able to rely on Radek Vitek and Martin Moormann once again after recovering from injuries – both started from the start and were part of a somewhat bumpy initial phase. Both teams had a stick error here and a pass error. In the sixth minute we came dangerously in front of the goal for the first time. Seidl failed from the left half position to WAC goalkeeper Polster. Practically in return, the guests are also dangerous. Radek Vitek was able to clear Ballo with his long arms. In the ninth minute, many were already screaming for the goal, but Goiginger almost missed from a tight angle.

Many intense duels in midfield shaped the rest of the game. Both teams did not waste any space, they looked for a way forward and in the 24th minute the guests were ahead 1-0. Nwaiwu was able to take the lead from a corner. Our team were up there straight away again, but they were hardly able to move dangerously into the penalty area – the WAC had the opportunities. In the 35th minute, Vitek had to take full risks against Pink, but he was able to save us from conceding another goal. We went into the break with a narrow 0:1.

After the restart, Blue-White Linz is much more aggressive! The WAC could hardly redeem themselves – the Linz team really applied the pressure, but they were unlucky in a crucial phase of the game.

It wasn’t until the last stage that things got really exciting again. In the 86th minute, after a corner, Wallner had a great opportunity from close range, but he put the ball near the goal. There was a lot of hecticness and emotion in the stoppage time, but even in this phase we didn’t succeed today so we ended up narrowly 1-0 down.

Once again today our fans were a great source of support for the team. Hofmann’s Personal Stadium was sold out until the last minute – it’s a shame we didn’t get a more than deserved point today.
