Title: BJP Condemns Minister’s Statement on Madurai High Court Establishment

Subtitle: DMK’s Minister AV Velu faces backlash for suggesting Madurai branch was set up due to begging

Chennai, Tamil Nadu – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, Annamalai, has strongly criticized Minister AV Velu’s recent statement about the establishment of the Madurai branch of the Madras High Court. Speaking at a public meeting in Annanagar, Madurai, to commemorate the centenary of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, Minister AV Velu suggested that Karunanidhi had resorted to begging to bring the High Court branch to Madurai.

Minister Velu claimed that the people of Southern District had to endure significant expenses while litigating their cases at the Madras High Court in Chennai. He further stated that in response to these difficulties, Karunanidhi had fought with the central government, metaphorically proclaiming that he had put a “beggar” to work, in order to establish the Madurai branch.

However, his comments have drawn severe backlash from BJP leader Annamalai. Taking to Twitter, Annamalai expressed his disapproval of Minister Velu’s speech, stating that it has become habitual for the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) to insult the people who voted for them. Annamalai accused the DMK of going as far as to suggest that the elected government was “begging” to fulfill the people’s needs.

Addressing the public on behalf of the Tamil Nadu BJP, Annamalai strongly condemned the DMK’s arrogance and their consistent disrespect towards the public. He emphasized that the DMK’s continuous disparagement of the government elected by the people is unjustifiable.

The establishment of the Madurai branch of the Madras High Court has been significant in ensuring better accessibility and convenience for the people residing in the Southern District, who previously had to travel to Chennai for their legal disputes. However, the contrasting opinions presented by Minister AV Velu and BJP leader Annamalai have sparked a debate over the motives and approach behind the establishment of the Madurai branch.

As tensions escalate between the political parties, it remains to be seen how this controversy will shape the narrative leading up to the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.
