Tirunelveli: Amid complaints of several lakhs of rupees being seized from DMK office in Tirunelveli East District, the BJP lawyers filed a complaint with the District Election Officer demanding the disqualification of Congress candidate Robert Bruce.

In the Lok Sabha elections, 23 candidates including Congress candidate Robert Bruce, AIADMK candidate Jhansi Rani, BJP candidate Nayanar Nagendran and Naam Tamil Party candidate Satya are contesting in the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha constituency. There is a four-cornered contest between the candidates of the major parties.

While the election field was without much excitement, it was said that several lakhs of cash were seized in a raid conducted by the election officials and the Income Tax Department at the Tirunelveli East District DMK office in Balayangottai Maharajanagar.

Following this, Tirunelveli-based government contractor R.S. Income Tax officials raided Murugan’s office and his house in Vijayanarayan for 3 days. Meanwhile, Tirunelveli BJP candidate Nayanar Nagendran is said to be involved in the seizure of Rs 4 crore from 3 people including a BJP member at Chennai Tambaram railway station. Following this, raids were conducted on people close to Nayanar Nagendran.

Due to this, the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha election field was in a frenzy on Sunday on behalf of DMK’s legal team to disqualify BJP candidate Nayanar Nagendran.

In this case, a complaint was submitted to the District Election Officer on behalf of the BJP lawyer team and the Hindu Front to disqualify the Tirunelveli Congress candidate.

State Secretary of BJP Advocates Division D. Led by Balaji Krishnasamy, Central Government Advocate and Hindu Front State Secretary K. Kutalanathan submitted a petition to the Election Officer K. P. Karthikeyan at the District Collector’s office today. In it, “Several lakhs of rupees have been seized from the DMK District Secretary’s office in Balayankot Maharajanagar by the Election Wing officials.

Details of how much money was seized, who was booked and who were arrested have not been formally released. The money seized from the DMK office is said to be the amount allocated to the DMK alliance candidate C. Robert Bruce to pay voters to win the election.

It is a state of public speculation that several lakhs have been seized and several crores have been seized and hidden. Following the seizure of lakhs of rupees from the DMK office, no search was conducted at the residences of any DMK dignitaries or DMK supporters in the district.

However, in order to divert it, the supporters of the Tirunelveli constituency BJP candidate raided the houses and seized the items. It is a unilateral action.

The Congress alliance should conduct a thorough search at the houses of the dignitaries and conduct the election in Tirunelveli constituency honestly and inform the voters and the public about the full details of the search conducted at the DMK office. Congress candidate C. “Robert Bruce should be disqualified,” the petition said.
